Companion match to the previous game on the 3rd September. Played in Newcastle at the Novos ground. Hopefully followed by a night-out afterwards. Look out for the Rugby contingent out on the scene afterwards (we'll be the loud ones shouting and dancing in the Bank).
Newcastle Ravens RFC 44 - Edinburgh Thebans 38
The Ravens took on the Thebans in their first home game of the season and with some great numbers at training and lots of new players - we had a squad of 16 on the day. The Ravens' game plan was disrupted from the start with the Thebans not having a full front row and needing to go uncontested in the scrums.
The game saw Micky Wright and Jack Walton making their debuts for the club. This was an exciting game with end-to-end play and with both teams scoring lots of tries. Thanks to great performances from all the Ravens, we finally managed to secure a great win over an ever-improving Thebans (who only a few weeks ago managed to beat us by 90 points).
Man of the match for the Ravens went to Jack Walton, who boasted a great performance all round but especially in the lineouts and his try.
